Is the New York Times crazy?

There is an internal struggle at the New York Times about the pricing for the their subscription on the iPad. The print division wants to charge somewhere around $20 - $30 a month. The digital division thinks this is crazy and is arguing for a much lower price of about $10.

Little Snitch is a great application to monitor outgoing traffic on your computer.

As soon as you’re connected to the Internet, applications can potentially send whatever information they want to wherever they want.
Sometimes they do this for good reason, on your explicit request. But often they don’t. Little Snitch allows you to intercept these unwanted connection attempts, and lets you decide how to proceed.
Akamai Download Manager: What is it?

If you monitor your outgoing network traffic on your computer, which I strongly suggest you do, you may have come across an application called Akamai trying to open a port to make an outgoing connection.
There may be some cause for alarm, but perhaps not.

On January 27th Steve Jobs announced Apple's latest device, the iPad. This is the long-awaited tablet that everyone has been talking about for the last year and even longer. Many expect this to be the saviour of the publishing industry. That remains to be seen. The price points (see below) are seen by many in the tech industry as reasonable. That also will ultimately be determined by the public.
