Apple Announces the iPad
On January 27th Steve Jobs announced Apple's latest device, the iPad. This is the long-awaited tablet that everyone has been talking about for the last year and even longer. Many expect this to be the saviour of the publishing industry. That remains to be seen. The price points (see below) are seen by many in the tech industry as reasonable. That also will ultimately be determined by the public.
The iPad is not only an e-reader, it is a gaming device; a movie theatre; a word processor; an iPod; a web browser and more. The possibilities are vast. Look for many creative uses for this device in the future. One example is the insurance industry. An agent can use it for filling out reports onsite using an app designed specifically for them. Oh, and all of your iPhone apps work on the iPad. The possibilities are endless.
